Naming: Leander calls the Thanksgiving week (November 23-27) "Fall Break" on this family calendar and in the approval news post (the one-page version presented to the board labels the same days "Thanksgiving Break"). The October 12-13 and February 15-16 Student/Staff Breaks follow Friday professional learning days (October 9, with parent-teacher conferences, and February 12), so students are off October 9-13 and February 12-16; March 26 (Student/Staff Break) and March 29 (professional learning) give a March 26-29 weekend. Professional learning days are no-school days for students: September 21, October 9, November 2-3 (Continuous Improvement Conference), January 4, February 12, March 29 and April 26. Early release on December 18 and May 27 (elementary 11:30 a.m., middle school 1:05 p.m., high school 12:15 p.m.). The calendar states no number of student days and designates no weather make-up days; the district says extra instructional minutes can absorb weather disruptions.
