Naming: Leander calls the Thanksgiving week (November 23-27) "Fall Break" on this family calendar and in the approval news post (the one-page version presented to the board labels the same days "Thanksgiving Break"). The October 12-13 and February 15-16 Student/Staff Breaks follow Friday professional learning days (October 9, with parent-teacher conferences, and February 12), so students are off October 9-13 and February 12-16; March 26 (Student/Staff Break) and March 29 (professional learning) give a March 26-29 weekend. Professional learning days are no-school days for students: September 21, October 9, November 2-3 (Continuous Improvement Conference), January 4, February 12, March 29 and April 26. Early release on December 18 and May 27 (elementary 11:30 a.m., middle school 1:05 p.m., high school 12:15 p.m.). The calendar states no number of student days and designates no weather make-up days; the district says extra instructional minutes can absorb weather disruptions. The district's online Campus Calendar (Google Calendar feed linked from the calendar page) lists the same holidays, professional learning days and early release days.
