Note: Approved by the Board of Education on November 10, 2025. Naming: DeKalb's "Winter Break" is the December 21-31 break (January 1 is listed separately as New Year's Day and January 4 is a post/pre-planning day, so students return January 5). The February week is called "February Break" (February 16-19, listed under days off); with Presidents' Day on February 15, students are off February 15-19. Inclement weather days: November 23-24 (Thanksgiving Break) and April 5-6 (Spring Break) may become school days if needed. Students do not report on October 5 (teachers' virtual workday), January 4 (post/pre-planning day) and March 15 (professional development day). November 3 is an Independent Learner/Professional Development Day that the calendar counts as an instructional day. Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day (October 12) is listed but is a school day. 180 instructional days = 89 (first semester) + 91 (second semester) printed on the calendar.
